Multi-storey Car Park Now Open!

Chelmsford Borough Council closed the multi-storey car park next to High Chelmer in March 2011 in order for essential maintenance work to be carried out. This work has now concluded and all floors of the multi-storey car park are now open as of 30th November 2011.
 

Chelmsford Market Now Re-Open for Business! 

Following the recent renovation and refurbishment works (as detailed below), we are delighted to announce that the Chelmsford Market and the first and second floors of the multi-storey car park are once again re-open for business! The re-opening was marked by a day of events, entertainment and enjoyment in Market Square on Saturday 3rd September. 
 
Internal Redevelopment Works
 
As of February 2011, work has started on the demolition of units 21-23 High Chelmer West and 1-4 Market Square. Reconstruction of the units into a two storey building with an extension to the east side will then take place, with the intention to create a new 1,200 sq ft flagship store for JJB.

We will also be extending the main anchor store at Central Square from 37,000 sq ft to 61,000 sq ft for Primark.

 

Elevation changes will be made to Market Square and Bellmead and will include an A3 café/restaurant use on the corner nearest Bell Meadow which will revitalise this area, providing greater permeability and interaction with the park. Work at the Central Square achor store will involve a three storey side extension and a single storey roof extension, also a new double height entrance at Central Square and a shop front along Bellmead.

 

This is another evolutionary stage in the ongoing development of High Chelmer as we continue to work with existing and new retailers in order to enhance the property asset for the benefit of all our customers.
